The Helicopter Line’s Twizel base operates from Wairepo Road, situated alongside SH8 and right next to the Mackenzie Country Inn in Twizel township itself. Twizel is situated in an idyllic setting in the Mackenzie Basin. The surrounding scenery varies from the glacial fed Lake Pukaki and the surrounding rugged high country landscape, to the soaring peaks and mighty glaciers of the Southern Alps and New Zealand’s highest mountain Aoraki/Mount Cook.
